Division Two: Burnley v Blackpool - Pete Oliver's preview
WHEN it comes to strikers leading the line, there will be two in-form examples competing for honours at Turf Moor tomorow.
Andy Cooke has been back with a bang for the Clarets following his injury problems earlier this season.
But Blackpool also have their own striking powerhouse in the shape of John Murphy. The former Chester City front man has proved a successful acquisition by Seasiders' boss Nigel Worthington.
Murphy is Blackpool's leading scorer with six League goals, his latest coming in last Saturday's 2-2 draw with Wigan Athletic.
And his physical presence is invariably a handful for defences, particuarly with tricky winger David Lee now providing the ammunition from the right flank following his loan move from Wigan.
Cooke's strike-rate is superior and the Burnley man has also passed the ball better and weighed in with more tackles to help his side out.
But Murphy scores in other areas and with Portsmouth's on-loan strikerJohn Durnin settling in alongside him, Blackpool boast a decent cutting edge.
Whether it matches up to the Cooke-Andy Payton partnership remains to be seen, however.
