CLARETS vice-chairman Ray Ingleby is calling on the fans to back the promotion push at Turf Moor - starting in tomorrow's derby clash with Blackpool.

The Burnley board was mystified by the lowest League crowd of the season for Burnley's last home game - a 5-0 win over Wrexham.

And Ingleby hopes the supporters will turn out in numbers tomorrow, when potential investors are expected to watch the game, to prove the town is behind the club and its ambitions.

He said: "We need to fill Turf Moor for two reasons.

"One is financially, and there are going to be investors turning up for the Blackpool game.

"And two, support for the players. It's a local derby and we need to have people in Blackburn hearing the singing at Turf Moor."

He added: "I would like to thank the hard-core of supporters who turn up for every game.

"But we need that hard-core to go up.

"I got involved in this club because I believed the fans were fanatical and when we having success would fill Turf Moor.

"We are having success compared with the last couple of years. It would be great to see my belief vindicated."

And Ingleby wants the supporters to play their part in helping bring the glory days back to Burnley.

"We have a plan to awaken the sleeping giant to get us into a position to get into a division we should be in, which is a minimum of the First Division," he said.

"My wish is that the fans realise this and realise that the directors are committed to this and work with us to have it happen.

"The main thing the supporters can do is turn up at Turf Moor every week, even if we lose the previous game, and support the players. I think this is the most exciting time in the club's recent history."
