Division Two: Preston North End 2 Notts County 0
JON Macken took his goals tally to 11 as Preston maintained their promotion push.
Macken scored twice inside ten minutes as North End jumped over County to move within a point of Division Two leaders Wigan.
Deepdale's best crowd of the season, more than 14,000, cheered a significant victory to make it a dismal home coming for one time North End hero Gary Brazil, now the County boss.
Brazil, an ace striker back in the 80s, could only have been impressed with Macken's clinical finishing. On 17 minutes he latched on to a pass from co-striker Kurt Nogan to sidefoot home.
Then with County reeling he broke to meet Mark Ranking's through ball and wrap up the points.
North End were put under some pressure in the second half but never looked like missing out on their ninth league win.
