HAWKS assistant boss Mark Ward summed up this Border League clash in three words: "One to forget."
After a disappointing 60 minutes of play Ward was understandably despondent after watching his side fail even to score one goal. "We didn't play well tonight, that's for sure" said Ward. "We found ourselves up against a team in peak form and a netminder who was absolutely unbeatable."
Hawks own goalie Colin Downey was in a similar mood after last night's Arena clash. "There were times when we weren't even in the game" said Downey. "But when we were their keeper was brilliant. Hopefully we can re-group and pay the fans back with a better performance next week."
Two goals in the first two periods and three in the third ended Hawks recent hot streak and Ward found it difficult take any positives from the game. "We played a more physical game tonight which is encouraging, but we have to match that with an end product. They were a good team, but we are bitterly disappointed with the result.
"We had new players trying to settle in but all through the team performances were sub-standard and the players know that. Hopefully this isn't the start of a bad run, because we've been playing very well in recent weeks. It's now just a case of picking ourselves up, dusting ourselves off and getting on with the task at hand."
