VETERAN swimmer Barbara Morton took a break from local competitions and headed off to Perth, Western Australia, for the 7th Pan Pacific Masters Championships.
She was the only local representative among 700 swimmers from 16 countries who were taking part, but she ended up with an unlucky break - in her wrist - after at tumble in the changing rooms.
Although this ended her championships, she had already taken medals in four events in the 65 to 69 years age group.
Pride of place was her gold medal for victory in the 200m backstroke, this was followed by two silver medals in the 50m and 100m breaststroke and to round off her collection she took bronze in the 200m breaststroke. She also finished fifth in the 200m individual medley.
Her results were: 200m backstroke (1) 4.03.10, 50m breast (2) 52.78, 100m breast (2) 2.04.34, 200m breast (3) 4.32.76, 200m i/m (5) 4.41.06.
