IN THE Allspeeds Cup this week there was an emphatic 9-0 away win for Whalley over Razor Blades in Group Seven, Des Graham and John Just were too good for the opposition.
A depleted Slammers team came away with a creditable 6-3 defeat against second placed Optimists in the same group, Adam Chadwick, Edward Pardoe and Martin Bowen the winning trio.
Harlequins top Group Eight with a resounding 7-2 away win over Allspeeds Res. Danny Chamberlain and Andy Lewis winning for the victors. Baxenden had a similar winning scoreline against Allspeeds Res, Richard Harwood was the main man for the winners.
In Group One, Burracs played two games this week, firstly they travelled to Stanhill and defeated the village side 5-4 in a close match, Bernard Caine in outstanding form for the away side with three superb wins. Burracs then played host to Hustlers and went down 7-2, Steven Riddiough and Saqib Merhban unbeaten for the victors and look firm favourites to qualify in that group.
Group Three leaders Royal Mail took no prisoners in a 6-3 home win over 3Bs, once again ageless Arthur Hartshorn the winner for the Burnley outfit. Shahsmen made a good Cup start this week with a splendid 7-2 away win over Haslingden CC, Peter Cunningham was the star on the night. Springhill totally outplayed Dash in Group Four winning 7-2, Linda Peel and Philip Heys in tremendous form for the victors. High-flyers Hollands Pies continue their impressive run of results in a 7-2 home win over Standen Hall, evergreen Eddie Pilling and team-mates Noel Duffy and Mark Hanson the winners.
In Group Five, New Era had a close 5-4 away win over Allspeeds, captain Steven Burrows and team mate Garth Winder winning two each and Allspeeds were indebted to Keith Ward who took maximum points from his matches.
Rovers top Group Six with a 7-2 home win over SAS, once again Jim Fielding came to the Rescue with three vital wins. Blackburn import Steve Lyons and team-mate Kris Seed sealed the win. Casuals Alan Ormerod seems unbeatable this season, once again his three wins were the backbone of his side's 5-4 defeat against Raiders.
