IN Group One of the handicap League Cup competition, young stars Steve Gover, Adam Williams and Gary Blackburn put on an excellent performance for Queen's Park 4th against a more experienced NASH, despite losing 6-3 at home.

Steve won two terrific games against Carl Weall and Ian Roscoe and Gary's determination helped him to win his battle against Mick Craine.

Group Two leaders H&S Plumbers with unbeaten Keith Ward in top form, showed their superiority by thumping H&S 2nd 7-2 at home. However, Mick Howarth stunned the victors with an explosive attacking strategy, overwhelming Colin Parkinson and Keith Jackson in the deciding sets.

Mick Moir's magnificent efforts for last year's cup winners Queen's Park were not enough to save them from a surprise 6-3 home defeat against Fire Brigade B, with dark horse Steve Ryan unbeatable on the night. Group Three leaders BT with Kris Seed in battling form, cruised to a sensational 7-2 away victory over Precision Parts. Although Precision got off to a flying start, the trio of Graham Burns, Alan Blomeley and Barry Gregson were unable to maintain the pressure for the home side. Last year's beaten finalists Unison lived up to expectations by defeating URC 3rd away. Ian Haworth was the hero of the night winning his game against Andy Naylor to clinch a hard-earned 5-4 victory.

In Group Four, Matthew Ward, Neil Shaw and Adam Shaw were the victorious trio for H&S 4th, beating Audley House 4th 5-4 at home despite Ian Baskerville's superb performance. Chris Byrne's team, Hyndburn, lead the group thanks to a 6-3 away victory over Fire Brigade A.

Queen's Park 2nd go top of Group Five after their emphatic 7-2 home win over Northern, with well-focused Jim Fielding and Steve Richardson in unbeatable form. Unison 2nd go into second place after defeating URC 2nd 5-4 away.

In Group Six, winning trio Allan Banks, Nathan Walton and Danny Bolton took the initiative for Queen's Park 3rd to win 6-3 against veterans Audley House 2nd, but Tek Neek hold top spot after crushing Westend 8-1.
