BEING made redundant after 23 years as a machinist spurred Shereen Trayford to find a new career.
After taking part in a Target Training scheme aimed at providing the unemployed with new skills the 40-year-old from Nelson has secured a new job as an accounts assistant.
"I worked towards an NVQ with support from Pendle Re-employment which set me in good stead for when I started at Regal precision Engineers in Colne," said Shereen.
And Shereen believes other people shouldn't be put off at the thought of changing careers to find a new job.,
"Completely changing your career can be pretty daunting but the help and support available from Target Training makes the transition a lot easier."
Target Training is part of the Government's Learning for Adults initiative which aims to provide new skills for the unemployed to fill gaps in the local labour market.
