WHILE searching in a drawer, I found a price list from the bar at the Blackpool Tower and Winter Gardens, dated 1961.
In those days you could buy any bottled beer for 1s 6d and a pint of draught beer or a short for 2s 3d.
Incidentally, starring at the Opera House was Shirley Bassey, who is still a top performer 38 years on. The late Frankie Vaughan topped the bill at The Palace, Arthur Askey was at The Grand and Lonnie Donegan played at the Winter Gardens.
How times have changed.
