I THINK it is likely that Metrolink are unaware of the latest craze amongst local youths for riding on the outside of their trams.
I have seen as many as three youths clinging to the back of one tram. It is extremely dangerous, especially when the tram passes over the motorway bridge at Besses o'th Barn and over the bridge at Radcliffe.
They wait until the driver has withdrawn his mirror and cannot see them, then they jump on to the back of the train. This practice is repeated at each station.
It must be exciting but how long will it be before there is an accident - perhaps a fatal one.
