IT happens once a year and only for two minutes: so what is it? Answer: Remembrance Day.
I was driving through the Broughton Park area on November 11 when I heard the bells toll on the radio, marking the two-minute silence. I pulled over and stopped my car.
I was then surprised to see local residents and shop owners carrying on with their day's work. The majority of the people in that area are Jewish.
Many lives were lost trying to save Jews who were suffering in the concentration camps so on this one occasion in the year could these people not have found the time to think of others instead of their profits!
