IN the Bury Times recently there was a report about Bury hospitals being left a legacy of £1.3 million and it was not known how best to spend the money,
May I suggest that some of it be allocated to the Speakeasy Club in Bury, a very deserving organisation founded to help people to overcome their difficulties following a stroke. The club helps with speech therapy, co-ordination and generally helping to rebuild confidence.
The future of Speakeasy is very much in the balance with future funding uncertain and the rent for such things as accommodation being expensive. Practical help is on a voluntary basis but, as a registered charity, adequate funding for the club remains a real problem.
