MAKING money is the aim of the game for the Seasiders' commercial manager Geoff Warburton.
But even though he joined on April 1, 1985, Geoff is no fool - he knows the value and importance of the Seasiders fan base.
After gaining valuable experience throughout the North West with Bolton Wanderers, Rochdale and League Rugby League Club, Geoff started work at Blackpool in charge of raising revenue for the club.
He said: "I was working for the Inland Revenue who wanted me to relocate to London.
"I didn't want to and when I went into the club shop at Bolton Wanderers I asked if there was any jobs available.
"I said I thought I could sell and so that's how I got started. Now I've been at Blackpool for 15 years and am very happy. If you cut me in half now my blood would be tangerine.
"Unlike the bigger clubs we don't have the big restaurants and executive boxes to bring revenue in and so rely on our lotteries Play the Game and the Gold Bond Draw. "And they've proved to be quite successful, even if they did take a bit of a knock when the National Lottery started.
"Who can knock the chance of winning £2,000 every week, £5,000 every month and a car every three months - this is not small change we're talking about.
"It is a pressure job, we've got to get the money in to pay the wages in the club.
"The club has had its ups and downs over the years, but I think now it's starting to get better - Karl Oyston has given the club direction.
"We've started to see some better results in the league, fingers crossed we'll make it into round three of the FA Cup and plans for the stadium seem to be getting somewhere.
"But the supporters are everything as far as I'm concerned, they sell the lottery tickets and I'd be lost without them.
"And for me the job satisfaction comes when I see the smile on the winners' faces - that's what makes my job a pleasure."
Geoff is currently looking for agents to sell Gold Bond tickets. For more information call 752222.
