GLAM rock has turned to "glum rock" for Blackpool musician John Rossall.

The man who helped make Gary Glitter a fortune is facing a cash crisis after the pop pervert was jailed.

John wrote four of Glitter's top ten hits but because DJs across the country now refuse to play his music, John's income from royalties is beginning to dry up.

The 55-year-old from Fulwood Avenue, Blackpool, still fronts a glam rock band and, like other members of the Glitter band, has found calls from booking agents drying up.

John comes from a musical family - his sister, Sheila, had a worldwide number one as lead singer in Picketty Witch.

John said: "I have my own songs and my own career, but through a now-unwanted Gary Glitter connection, I am being shunned.

"What he has done could bankrupt me even though he is behind bars and I am a totally innocent party.

"There is a knock-on effect from what a man, who was a complete loose cannon, has done.

"My songs and the band's talent helped him to the top but through no fault of our own, we face being dragged down because of the revulsion of the music industry for what he and only he has done.

"This man is endangering my living and the living of other musicians in the band."

John and his brother Ronnie led a band at the famous Star Club in Germany, taking over after The Beatles' residency.

It was then that he was introduced to Paul Gadd - Glitter's real name.

He is now back on the road with a glam rock band and has just returned from a tour of Germany and the Middle East.
