RADCLIFFE BOROUGH defender Lawrence Greenhalgh may have to have metal plates inserted in his jaw as a result of the ugly clash with Ian Blackstone at Farsley Celtic two weeks ago, writes STEVE BOTT.
Greenhalgh is also considering bringing a private prosecution against Blackstone if the police do not press criminal charges.
"We are still waiting to hear from the police," said a family member. "Lawrence has stitches in his face and he goes back to hospital on Monday. It's still not certain whether he will have to have plates put in his jaw to hold it together," said a family member.
Greenhalgh was felled by two punches by Farsley Celtic's former York City striker Ian Blackstone in the Unibond League clash in Leeds.
Both players were sent off after squaring up to each other and face bans.
"We will have a better idea if the injury is going to heal itself after Monday. If not it plates will have to be put in.
"Lawrence has made a staement to the police in Pudsey, West Yorkshire and there are also witnesses from Radcliffe.
"The linesman had said that both players squared up to each other. That's all it was until this chap did this."
