ST HELENS Council is to receive almost £135,000 to help provide more homework clubs for primary pupils.
The borough is one of only 17 councils nationwide to receive the money awarded from the Government's New Opportunities Fund. Children from across the borough will benefit from the new clubs which will specialise in areas such as computer-aided design.
Councillor Andy Bowden, chairman of Education, said: "St Helens has a very successful summer school programme and this additional £135,000 will help us to expand the facilities available."
