GETTING in trim for the National training Awards is prizewinning fitness guru Louise Brooks.

The businesswoman, who runs the Louise Brooks Health Studios in Chapel Street, Bury, was a winner in Bolton and Bury Chamber's competition to promote the 2000 National Training Awards.

She won a place at the 1999 awards and a £300 training voucher to help get her company in fine shape to enter next year.

Business Person of the Year Louise has a strong commitment to develop her own skills and those of her 25 staff.

With help from the Chamber, the company is working towards its Investors in People accreditation and has an in-house trainer on its payroll.

The company will be placing an even greater focus on training over the coming months as it prepares for a major expansion that will virtually treble its size and staff numbers.

The new-look Louise Brooks Health Studios, opening next spring, will occupy 20,000 sq ft and incorporate expanded gym and health studios together with a swimming pool and lecture theatre.

Says Louise: "We will look towards entering the National Training Awards next year and the £300 training voucher is a useful step on the way. We intend to put it towards training in Pilates."

Andrew Rochford, training manager at Radcliffe-based sweets manufacturers Adams, a division of Warner Lambert, was the other Chamber prizewinner.
