CLARETS' wide-man Glen Little has set his sights on a near double-figure return in front of goal this season to help Burnley pursue their promotion dream.

Little opened his account in the 5-0 rout of Wrexham at Turf Moor earlier this month and admitted: "It was about time."

And even though he hadn't followed up that headed goal before this afternoon's FA Cup clash at home to Rotherham, the wing wizard is optimistic that he can get himself on the scoresheet more regularly.

"I was looking to get maybe eight or 10 goals this season. The first was a bit slow in coming but now I'm off the mark hopefully I'll get a few more," he said.

Although primarily a provider from the right flank, Little has the ability to score more goals and if he could achieve his target it would give him a season's best and provide Burnley's promotion aspirations with a major shot in the arm. He added: "I scored five under Chris Waddle and five last season while being out for seven or eight weeks. So I did feel I could maybe get eight or 10 this season if I got a run in the side and stayed injury-free.

"That's the target and I'm sure the likes of Micky Mellon and Paul Cook would say they would like to get eight or 10 as well.

"If we do that and Payts and Cookie score the goals we know they can do, we shouldn't go far wrong."

Goals or not, Little is a key figure for Burnley with the cutting edge he provides on the right-hand side of the attack. And after admitting to a below-par start to the campaign, the 24-year-old, who recently became a father for the first time, is back towards his best.

"Last season I felt the same as well," he said.

"At the start of the season it took me a bit of time. I'd have a good game then a bit of a dull one until I got to October time and started to feel really strong and physically fit and I felt 100 per cent.

"Then I had a really good month in October, carried that on to November and felt really good before I got kocked out by a hernia operation.

"It's the same this season, I waited until October. I've just started to feel really fit again, although maybe it took a bit longer this time because at the start of the season I had a spell out for a few games.

"But I feel as though I am getting back to the old form."

Meanwhile, the draw for the third-round of the FA Cup, which Burnley will hope to be in by beating Rotherham, will take place at Wembley at 5.45pm tomorrow evening.

However, if there is a loser today then a possible reprieve is available via the Axa 'wild card'.

The 20 defeated clubs in the second round will go into a draw after all the ties have been completed with one club being picked out as the wild card selection, who will then be away in round three to the club drawn out 63rd and last tomorrow.

John O'Kane, who had a spell on loan at Burnley last season, has joined Bolton on loan from Everton.
