MARTIN Aspinwall's second-half equaliser gave Harwood a point to leave manager Denis Underwood satisfied.

Having dominated the first-half, Harwood were stunned to go behind to a penalty just before half-time. The response pleased Underwood, however, as his men bounced back to level 10 minutes after the break and match a side a few places above them in the FNWTL First Division table.

Town started positively with a three-man forward line and the midfield trio of Gary Butcher, Paul Brown and Neil Otley more than holding their own. Aspinwall twice went close and Graham Lightbown also had a couple of opportunities to give the home side the lead.

However, a rash challenge in the box by Nick Grogan allowed St Helens to take a shock lead.

Grogan made amends, though, shortly after the re-start when his powerful header following a corner wasn't held by the visitors' keeper, and Aspinwall tucked away the loose ball.
