FA Cup 2nd round: Preston North End 0 Enfield 0
DAVID MOYES stood accused of making a classic mistake but his players refused to accept that Preston had under estimated their part time opponents.
Moyes, quite understandably, felt he was able to play several fringe players and still have enough fire power to overcome a team as low down the ladder as Ryman League Enfield.
And his skipper Sean Gregan agreed: "The manager wanted to give other people a game and we all have a collective responsibility. How we failed to score will always be a mystery."
Preston, as expected, dominated almost from start to finish but could find no joy against Enfield's determined defence.
True, North End did get the ball in the net twice, through Bjarki Gunnlaugsson and Kurt Nogan but both were ruled out for off side.
Preston now face the awkward prospect of a replay tomorrow week at St Albans.
But the incentive is clear for a home date with Oldham awaits them if they can find a way past one of the cup sides of the season so far.
