POLICE are investigating the sudden death of a man who collapsed in a Blackburn street last night.
The man, whose name has not been released, was taken to Blackburn Infirmary.
The alarm was raised after his body was found by two women in Canterbury Street shortly after 8pm. Police said they do not think there were any suspicious circumstances.
The man is single, in his mid 40s and from the Blackburn area. He had facial injuries but police believe those happened when he fell.
Part of the road was still closed early today while police combed the area.
Inspector Steve Lee said: "If there is a death outdoors we have to investigate it thoroughly. At this stage it appears there are no suspicious circumstances but we still have to investigate thoroughly."
Blackburn coroner Michael Singleton has been informed and a post mortem examination was being carried out today.
