MORE money needs to be spent on maintenance if roads in Rossendale are to be safer, warn councillors.
Rossendale councillors are calling for Lancashire County Council to inspect the borough's worst roads.
Coun David Hancock said Roadsafe figures proved Rossendale was unique. He said: "Statistics show we have problems that don't exist in other parts of the country. Our situation is different and now that has been shown we need to solve these problems immediately."
Coun George Lee said: "We need more funding. We need Lancashire County Council to visit Rossendale and look at the condition of our roads now.
"Lancashire Council has a responsibility to this district. The reality is the continuing deterioration of our roads. The people of Rossendale and this district are demanding action and the county is failing to act."
