REGARDING H Hamer's remarks in 'Pensioners worst off' (Letters, November 11), Jack Straw will pander to the Tom, Dick and Harrys to get votes.

The Government has its priorities - the Millennium Dome. They don't want to help the pensioners and the NHS doesn't get enough help with the cancer problem.

If you qualify for a pittance of a pension, with a 75p a week pay rise that would not buy a jumper from the charity shop, and the £100 fuel allowance, will not some of that be required to buy food that the pension won't pay for?

Why take the French to court over British beef or the way they feed animals?

If they eat their own meat and we eat our own, it would be cheaper for the taxpayer than a court case.

Prince Charles will not be using the Dome and I hope they lose out on that costly eyesore.
