A LORRY crashed through a stone wall on the Grane Road today only yards from the spot where two Blackburn College students died.
The driver of an Excel Logistics lorry lost control on a sharp left-hand bend between the Grey Mare pub and the Belthorn turn-off on the notorious Haslingden to Blackburn road at 5am today.
He was shaken but not hurt. A police spokesman said he had not been speeding and there appeared to be no mechanical fault with the vehicle.
The road was blocked at the M65 junction to traffic travelling to Haslingden for more than two hours and traffic travelling to Blackburn was delayed while the truck was removed.
Students, 19-year-old Gareth Edwards and 17-year-old Joseph Slupski, both from Harwood, Bolton, were killed when their car burst into flames after a crash in October.
The latest accident is the first since the Lancashire Evening Telegraph launched its Stop the Carnage campaign.
