BOLTON failed in their quest for five successive First Division wins but still managed to maintain their promotion challenge with another sound all-round performance.
Manager Sam Allardyce had said in advance that the game plan was to thwart and frustrate Fulham and it worked a treat.
Indeed, Wanderers seemed destined for more than just a point when Eidur Gudjohnsen gave them an early lead with a beautifully taken curling shot from the edge of the box.
A dubious penalty awarded for a foul on Paul Peschisolido and converted by the same player, earned Fulham a draw.
Wanderers were asked to soak up a lot of second half pressure but the outstanding Gudni Bergsson made sure his co-defenders remained resolute: "You don't come to places like Fulham and expect an easy ride, but credit to us for the way we stuck at it. The spirit here is first class" said Bolton boss Sam Allardyce.
