THERE was excellent entertainment at Gigg Lane where Bury turned in a super performance following recent criticism, and will consider themselves very unfortunate not to have bagged all three points.
Table-topping Wigan looked much the slicker for much of the first half, but it was Bury who took the lead with a magnificent strike from Chris Billy following good work by man of the match Darren Bullock, and Adrian Littlejohn.
Wigan levelled after being awarded a penalty. And though young Pat Kenny produced a splendid save from the spot kick, Stuart Barlow was able to follow up the rebound to equalise. In the second half Bury were much more dominant and the longer the game proceeded the more Bury looked the better side.
However, it was Wigan who took the lead through Simon Howarth, seemingly offside, nevertheless finished with some style.
Bury struck back minutes later when Darren Bullock was brought down in the area for Andy Preece to equalise from the resultant penalty.
