AN East Lancashire riding stables is celebrating its silver jubilee in style thanks to Blackburn-based brewery Daniel Thwaites.
The brewery's charitable trust has paid for Burnley's Dyneley Stables to renovate its practice arena after a drainage problem left it waterlogged.
The stables, established by Lady Towneley in 1974, is an official Disabled Riding Association centre and serves as an outdoor retreat for mentally and physically children.
Lady Towneley said: "The arena had become nothing more than a sump, soaking up all the water off the surrounding meadows. It became impossible to use.
"We were left with a major operation to draw the water off and establish a sufficient drainage system but now, thanks to Thwaites' generous donation, the surface is absolutely wonderful.
"We have also been able to improve our wheelchair access."
The new-look riding centre was officially unveiled by Thwaites' managing director Paul Baker.
He said: "We are delighted to assist Dyneley Stables where so much good work takes place. I cannot think of a better way of helping the stables mark their silver jubilee."
The stables are open between April and December and host disabled riding sessions on Monday, Tuesday and Saturday mornings.
