WALTON-le-Dale High School's great balloon race is on!
Pupils from the school released 700 balloons last week with £100 up for grabs to the person who's balloon is returned from the furthest away.
The students sold the balloons for £1 each to raise funds for a variety of charities over the past months.
Deputy head-teacher Neil O'Connor said: "The day was fantastic and with the mild weather, the balloons went up for miles.
"The children loved it and it was quite an achievement.
"We are donating money to the Sue Ryder Foundation, the Air Ambulance, Comic Relief and a home for children in Romania, which we are helping to furnish."
12-year-olds Maria Varlas and Sharon Ward are pictured.
