A NEW 'spot and tell' drink-drive campaign launched by police in Southern Division last year, is going county-wide in time for Christmas.
Officers have already tracked down scores of drink-drivers under the new Drink Link initiative, which involves people calling the Crimestoppers to report incidents of drink-driving to the police.
Now the boys in blue are calling on people across the county to get into the spirit of Christmas and to call the free-phone number, anonymously if they wish, to help net motorists who drink and drive.
Callers should give details of the make, model and registration number of the car along with the day, time and location of the alleged offence.
It is hoped that the intelligence-led campaign, which will run in conjunction with high-profile roadside checks, will help to cut accidents and prevent further deaths on the county's roads caused by drink-driving.
Chief inspector Ian Bell said: "Drink Link proved so successful in the southern part of the county last year with a number of people arrested for drinking and driving as a direct result of information we received.
"Drinking and driving is unacceptable and we would encourage people who have information about drink-drivers to inform us, via Crimestoppers, to help put a stop to it."
If you spot a drink driver call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
