I AM writing in the hope that the driver of a car which nearly collided with me and my children on a zebra crossing will realise what could have happened and drive more carefully in the future.
The crossing is on Barton Street near Waves swimming pool. My son had finished his swimming lesson and we were going to cross the road as we usually do.
We waited and when a car approaching us stopped, we stepped on to the crossing and started to cross over the road. Then, to my total horror, a car coming in the other lane, travelling much too fast, drove straight over the crossing in front of us.
But for my quick thinking in telling my children to stop, I hate to think what could have happened.
What is the point of teaching your children road safety when some car drivers obviously do not know the meaning of the words?
This is the second time this has happened on this crossing. I would be interested to know if any other readers had experienced any such incidents.
