Liverpool St Helens 40 Aspatria 25 THIS was a huge boost for LSH as they hover just above the relegation zone.
It came after a lethargic first-half which saw Aspatria in control.
During this period the visitors scored three unconverted tries and a penalty goal, but they allowed their attention to wander at crucial times and LSH were able to keep in touch with tries from Brooks and Haver and a penalty goal from Cumming.
For the first 15 minutes of the second half the LSH defence was given a full examination by Aspatria and when the visitors finally scored a converted try, to take a 25-13 lead, the match seemed over.
However, the heavy Aspatria pack were beginning to look tired after all their hard work, and as the home side moved the ball wide gaps began to appear in their defence.
Worsley started the LSH comeback when his clever break made space for Jones to cross for a converted try and soon after he chipped through for Brooks to gather, swop passes with Nugent and score in the corner.
Aspatria were shell-shocked, and unable to break out of their own half, and further problems befell them when an attempted drop goal by Worsley went wide, but Brooks followed up and touched down before their defence could react.
LSH were now rampant and with the three-quarters tearing huge holes in the visiting defence, two tries were scored by Cumming in the last five minutes to complete the fight back.
