A LEIGH soldier has run from Warrington to Omagh to raise money for cancer research.
Private David Bullough, 19, and a former pupil at Lowton High, is currently based in Omagh, Northern Ireland with the 1st Battalion The Queen's Lancashire Regiment.
Keen footballer and runner David, together with nine fellow soldiers, set off on Wednesday to run in relay through Lancashire to reach Warrington Peace Centre for a civic ceremony.
On Thursday they travelled to Northern Ireland and ran from Belfast to Omagh for a second civic ceremony.
It will mark the end of the battalion's tour of duty in Omagh and the target for Cancer Research is £5,000.
Event co-ordinator and one of the runners, Major Richard Beatson, said: "The 1st Battalion The Queen's Lancashire Regiment has done a lot with the community while we have been in Omagh including raising about £10,000 for the Omagh Bomb Appeal.
"We've developed very strong relationships with councillors in Omagh and this is our last chance to give something back to the community before we leave."
