A MAN is fighting for his life after falling from a moving taxi.
The 34-year-old is on a life-support machine after being discovered unconscious with serious head injuries.
He was found in Bury New Road, Prestwich, at 2.20am on Saturday and was taken to North Manchester General Hospital where he is in intensive care.
Detectives said the man, whose identity has not been released, was in the rear of a Vauxhall Vectra taxi travelling towards Whitefield. Also inside were two female passengers who police say were friends of the driver.
Detective Inspector Jane Antrobus, of Whitefield CID, said: "From our inquiries, we believe this man had fallen from the back seat of the vehicle. He was found later by a passing taxi driver, lying half on the pavement and half in the gutter." Officers are examining the vehicle to determine whether it had any faulty locks.
Meanwhile, police are still anxious to talk to anyone who has information about the incident. They should ring Whitefield CID on 856 8213 or freephone CrimeStoppers on 0800 555 111.
