A FORMER St Helens man who emigrated to Australia more than 30 years ago has just had a first volume of poems published.
Father-of-four Robert Honey, originally from Union Street, left his job as a mixer in the 'Red Room' at Pilkington and went 'Down Under' with wife Brenda and their children on the assisted package scheme.
The family live in St Mary's, a small town in New South Wales, where committed Christian Robert, has had his poetry published in a book entitled 'Standing But Not Alone.'
Proud sister, Evelyn Leach, of Ackers Lane, Eccleston, told the Star: "Bob has sent over a copy of the book for me and it is a wonderful read. He has always been committed to Christianity and his poems reflect that, they are very uplifting. Unfortunately, he hasn't been very well in recent years. He has had a few heart attacks and also has knee problems, so I am really pleased that he has done so well with his poems because that has always been his passion.
"For an ex-Lowe House School pupil who started out with nothing, he has done well!
