POLICE are hunting a slipper-y customer who is a fan of cartoon family The Simpsons.
The thief made off with around 500 pairs of Bart Simpson slippers from a trailer parked in the Walker Park industrial estate, Guide.
Detective Constable Ian Geogarty from Darwen CID said the slippers were valued at around £1,000, with a higher retail value.
He said: "We are pretty sure the thief was looking for something else.
"You could try to sell them as Christmas presents but you would struggle to sell 500 pairs."
The child's slippers feature a picture of Bart Simpson with a skateboard.
Anyone with information about the theft is asked to ring Darwen CID on 01254 701777.
