TWO families were in mourning today after the death of two men from Nelson in a horrific road accident.
Qasair Rashid, 26, of Hibson Road and 30-year-old Khalid Parvez, of Vernon Street, died in the accident at Riddlesden, near Keighley, on Thursday night.
Mr Rashid, who was driving a Honda Civic, and front seat passenger Mr Parvez were travelling on the A650 towards Bradford when they were in a collision with a Vauxhall Cavalier.
The name of a second passenger, believed to be a teenage girl from Burnley, has not been released by police.
Police are still investigating circumstances surrounding the accident.
The driver of the Cavalier, from Bradford, was taken to Airedale Hospital with serious injuries.
Bachelor Mr Rashid, an unemployed technical support assistant, died in the operating theatre at Airedale General Hospital. He leaves parents Abdul and Zeenat Rashid, three brothers Asif, 29, Nasir, 28, Amer, 25, and a sister Farhat, 24.
Mr Parvez, who was married, was an unemployed labourer. He was dead on arrival at the hospital.
Family and friends gathered at Mr Rashid's house in Hibson Road last night.
Pendle Councillor Safdar Hussain, also of Hibson Road and a friend of Mr Rashid's family, said: "It is very sad.
"I know Khalid's father and I have seen Qasair in the mosque and he was growing up to be a fine young man."
An inquest will open in Bradford on Monday.
