A 20-year-old man was due to appear at Burnley Magistrates Court today charged with wounding 23-year-old Peter White, of Haslingden.
Police said Jay McFadden, 20, of Rawtenstall, was arrested after Mr White was taken to Bury General Hospital and later transferred to Blackburn Royal Infirmary suffering from serious injuries to his face and arms.
The incident, which left Mr White needing cosmetic surgery to his face, took place in the early hours of Saturday in a back alley adjacent to the Queen's Hotel and opposite the Samrat Indian Restaurant.
An earlier disturbance in the hotel's nightclub, Madison's, led to two men being thrown out of the front entrance and two others being sent out of the rear of the hotel.
