TALENTED youngsters from across the North West performed in Colne at the weekend in the first section of the annual Luther Greenwood Memorial Festival.
The speech, drama and music event was split between three venues - the Municipal Hall, St John's Methodist Church Hall and the Parish Church.
Festival music secretary Muriel Waite said: "The day overall was lacking in quantity but the quality of performance was outstanding." Chairman of speech and drama, Mildred Shaw said: "The speech section grows and grows with the standard of performance equally improving." The Silverman Shield for the highest percentage in the singing categories was presented to Hannah Nicholson, of Nook Croft, Earby, while the nomination for Speech Performance for the national Millennium Festival in the year 2000 was Alyson Dobson, of Burnley.
The second part of the festival takes place on Saturday.
