A BURST water main left a school gym under several feet of water for most of yesterday.
North West Water workers were called to Moorland School, Clitheroe, after staff arriving for duty found the school field and gym waterlogged.
They worked all day to trace the burst to a pipe near the village of West Bradford.
Principal Muriel Ashcroft said there were a number of water pipes supplying Clitheroe and the surrounding area under the school field.
"Staff discovered water gushing into the sports hall, but nothing could be done until the burst was located and dealt with. It was a beautiful day, so pupils were able to enjoy games outside. Thankfully, there has been no major damage to the sports hall, although we will have a horrendous clean-up job!" she said.
