GIANT GEC announced the shock closure of most of its engineering site at Clayton-le-Moors.
The company told its 280-strong East Lancashire workforce most of the site would be shut by the end of March.
Only 80 men making plastic aircraft parts in a small part of the site would remain, and the company was looking for a purchaser for this operation.
