THE weekend's action saw the Under-Nines Panthers produce one of their best performances of the season.
Despite trailing to Clitheroe Wolves at the break, they came up with a second-half fight-back in a thriller at Memorial Park.
Their opponents led after a tight first half, but Shaun Slater slammed a second period hat-trick to catapult the Panthers into a 3-1 lead and Clitheroe, although they reduced the arrears were unable to break down the resilient Panthers.
The Under-Nines Tigers maintained their 100 per cent league record beating Rishton United by a solitary goal. Although the Tigers had the edge, Rishton did have a number of chances.
The Under-10s Panthers were well beaten by Ossy Villa Pumas, a below-par showing resulting in a 5-0 defeat. However, the Harwood Tigers held the whip hand over the Ossy Villa Tigers in a game they totally controlled and won 2-0 - a double strike from Ashley Hall. The Under-11s were unlucky not to take a point from top-of-the-table Barrowford in a dramatic finale. Having conceded a goal in the first five minutes, it took a further 40 minutes for their opponents to add a second and third. Rovers pulled two late goals back through Jordan Marsden, and man of match Christian Leliuga.
The Under-12s suffered the anguish of a late equaliser after making the running against local rivals Langho Juniors. Greg Monk scored for the Rovers as they took a deserved lead 10 minutes into the second half, only to see a near-post corner bundled over the line at the death.
The Under-13s made light work of Akzo Juniors. Two goals each for Kieran Taylor and Graham Johnson saw the Rovers comfortable 4-0 winners. Meanwhile, the Under-14s lost by the odd-goal-in-three to Langho Juniors in the first round of the Cup with Liam Pinnington registering his 14th goal of the campaign for Rovers.
The Under-15s, managed by Gaz Miller and Graham Walmsley, breezed past Padiham by 5-0. Strikes from Matthew Pendergast (2), Simon Miller (2) and David Hogg did the damage.
The Under-16s crashed to a 5-1 defeat at the hands of Rossendale Valley with Jonny Andrews providing the solitary strike in a match that was abandoned with 10 minutes remaining due to adverse pitch conditions.
