I HAVE read with interest about the changes which are to take place in the way Blackburn with Darwen Council is to administer the town's affairs. What is really worrying is that nowhere was there any mention of the electorate being consulted.
I presume, as with the decision on unitary status, the councillors decided the electorate was too ignorant or too apathetic to be taken into consideration.
Since the people are going to have to pay for the dictators (sorry, Cabinet), they should at least have some say on their powers.
The system that seems to have been democratically decided on depends on a strong, efficient opposition party and judging by the stories in the press, Blackburn is lacking in this department.
