A FAMILY fled a blaze at the cafe they own - Butty Bill's - in Todmorden Road, Burnley.
Bill Nobbs, his wife June and their two-year-old grandson Liam were taken to Burnley General Hospital for check ups after the fire yesterday.
The accident was caused by an electrical fault in a deep fat fryer.
Fire Sub Officer John Davies said: "The owner had put a fire blanket over it but it was still burning so we put our fire blanket on and some damp towels and after 45 minutes removed the fryer outside.
"Everyone was outside when we arrived but they had breathed in smoke so we gave them oxygen before paramedics arrived to take them to hospital."
