WHINNEY Hill created the surprise of the day in the Under 18s section by beating leaders Clitheroe 6-5 in a highly entertaining game at Roefield.

In the Under 17s match of the day in the Red Rose Assurance Football League, Old Blacks shared the points in a 1-1 draw with league leaders Walton-le-Dale.

This Sunday they entertain second-placed Worsthorne.

Victories for Knuzden Juniors, Blackburn Boys Juniors and West End CYC maintained their top of the table positions in the Under 12s, Under 13s and Under 15s respectively.

The Under 18s representative team defeated Warrington 5-1 in the LFA's Inter-League competition. Goals from Gary Jackson (2), Danny Braidwood, Mark Eddleston and Ryan Walsh put the Blackburn side into the next round.

The semi-final will be against the South Lancs League and will be played at Nelson FC on Tuesday, December 7 (kick-off 8pm).
