BLACKBURN unveiled their stars of the future when the club's under 11s played their first ever game.
Although they didn't get off to a winning start, they showed enough passion and commitment to make you think that the first win won't be long in coming.
And to make that win come sooner rather than later, they couldn't go far wrong in following the example set by Ormskirk.
For despite some stubborn defending and tough tackling, on this occasion, Blackburn had no answer to Ormskirk's slick movement and direct running.
The visitors out-scored Blackburn by six tries to two - but it was in the second half that they ran away with victory.
However the match was the perfect advert for mini rugby - played hard and fast but fair.
Up until the break Blackburn were still in with a shout thanks to tries from Edward Holden and Terrence Singelton.
At the break Ormskirk were leading 15-10 which was largely due to the exceptional Singleton.
Made captain for the day and making his Blackburn debut, Singleton ran the show for the first time and was a match for the visitors.
But naturally he could not keep up his one man show and as he ran out of steam in the second half, Ormskirk took full advantage. If Singleton was the star of the first half there was no doubting who was the star after the break as Cara Pendleton rounded off a fine individual performance with an excellent solo try.
Pendleton had already been denied two tries when Blackburn's backs held firm on their own line to keep her at bay.
But in a neat move where Ormskirk's backs released the ball quickly, Pendleton was giving enough space to dive in for a try.
With no conversions at this level, it was the vital breakthrough that Ormskirk were looking for.
Other tries came from John Archer, Andrew Wade, Rob Prescott, David Nalborczyk and Tim Harper.
Blackburn coach Mike Holden said there were some encouraging signs to build upon but praised Ormskirk for a fully deserved victory.
He said: "This was our first ever under 11s game and Ormskirk's first of the season. I thought both sides played very well but of course Ormskirk deserved their win."
