AT BLACKBURN Harriers annual presentation evening, there was an unexpected surprise for president Tony Wood and chairman Terry McEntee when they were presented with life membership awards by senior coach Arthur Almond, who is also a life member.
Tony and Terry have given many years of service to the club and were clearly touched by the award. Jason Lobo, who has recently rejoined the club as a second claim member, was also honoured with life membership.
The club's three National Champions illustrate the diversity of the menu on offer at Blackburn. Evan Cook is the veteran marathon champion, Candy Hamilton won the under 12 fell title and Mike Hazelwood won both the javelin and the throws penthathlon in the M50 age groups. All were among the athletes presented with awards.
