FOLLOWING the recent premiere of the new James Bond film, what a pleasant surprise it was to see a lookalike of Goldfinger's henchman, Oddjob, pointing a gun at council leader Councillor Malcolm Doherty and holding him to ransom (LET November 24).
It struck me as being particularly ironic as Coun Doherty and his cronies have been holding the people of Blackburn with Darwen to ransom for years.
Perhaps Oddjob was trying to fund a devilish plot to undermine local businesses by charging extortionate business rates, ruin the environment by planting metal trees, offend public morals by erecting obscene statues and bring both Blackburn and Darwen to a standstill through ill-thought road layouts.
Someone should tell Oddjob not to bother as Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council (BWDBC - Brainless Without Direction Bozos Club), have already beaten him to it.
Maybe Cubby Broccoli should have given Coun Doherty a fluffy white cat and cast him in 007's next adventure, as he has more madcap schemes than any previous Bond villain.
Maybe they could call it 'Hypocropussy'!
