LOCAL people will be given an insight into how Pendle Council performs, in a leaflet being distributed this month.
More than 100 facts and figures covering everything from how well the authority empties rubbish bins to how much is spent per person on a wide range of services are included.
Councils across the country have to publicise their performance results as part of the Citizen's Charter to help them be accountable to local people.
Key improvements highlighted in Pendle include faster response times to telephone calls, with 91.7 per cent answered within 10 seconds in 1998/99 compared to 70.5 per cent in 1997/98, and 84 per cent of letters responded to within 10 working days, compared to 77 per cent.
The figures also reveal it costs Pendle £28.36 per household to collect rubbish, almost 600,000 visits were made to council leisure sites with £12.38 per person spent on sport and leisure, and the council spent £122.65 per person on providing all services.
Corporate policy manager Brian Astin, said: "Pendle Council is happy to make these figures public.
"They show what we are doing well and where we need to make improvements."
'How Did We Do?' is available from council offices, libraries or by ringing Andrea Drinkwater on 01282 661986.
