THE 75-year-old 'black cat' china cup treasured by reader A. Ashton of Moore Drive, Haydock, completes the missing link in an earlier nostalgia piece which appeared on this page.
Annie Parker, now 88 and living at Bernard Wood Court, Birchley, retains fond memories of her girlhood visit to a special exhibition at Wembley but could not recall the year or the proper title of the event.
Now, A.A. confirms that it was the British Empire Exhibition of 1924. He still has a china cup and saucer which came from that major event .
On the cup is a black cat with a 'Good Luck' message, together with the name and date of the exhibition.
YET another little mystery cleared up by the ever-obliging customers of this column.
