Here's mud in your eye

CLLR Denwood's letter re the Remembrance Day service was a disgrace. An attempt to gain political advantage publicly in what was a poorly disguised sideswipe at the Greens... "didn't we look good? Aren't the others simply dreadful?" Can it be a coincidence that the Greens were the party that just happened to knock seven bells out of Labour in Castle ward last time out? I am a regular reader of your letters columns and have yet to see anything from Ms Denwood commenting on the behaviour of her own party about how so much public money has been wasted under their administration or the proposed destruction of fields in south Lancaster to provide yet another bonanza to some lucky developer somewhere. Perhaps she doesn't care or considers the public too stupid to recognise what she's up to. The Greens may be a young party compared with Labour but they have principles and have a fresh approach at looking at many issues which the other main parties and Labour in particular could do well to note. It always seems to be the case in this city that when local politicians have nothing to offer themselves and cannot legitimately attack the opposition on grounds of policy or decisions they resort to personal and often inexact mud-slinging. I think a (public) apology is in order.
